During her childhood, Banya wondered about the sensations in her hands – she didn’t understand she had inherited the same healing hands as her Mother and 3 earlier generations of her family.  She remembers playing with the energy in her hands like a glowing ball in the dark, not realizing that she had a special gift. As she grew older, she did not want to be different from her friends, so she hid her abilities and denied the energy which came so easily and seemed such fun.

As a young child in Korea, Banya watched with fascination as her Mother worked with Oriental Medicines and herbs. This was her family’s traditional vocation, Banya being the 4^th generation in a family of acupuncturists and healers.

By the age of 7 she was helping her Mother as an apprentice in her family’s healing practice and her enthusiasm for acupuncture and  healing grew steadily over the years,

In 1984 Banya moved to the United States, attending college in New York where she formally trained in Traditional Oriental Healing  methods, Acupuncture, and as an Oriental Herbalist. During this time her passionate embrace of health and fitness led her to explore  different martial arts disciplines.  At the same time Banya's ability to see beyond the symptoms and diseases in people crystallized; she could see and know the true origin of the physical manifestation of a disease.  The answers would come to her intuitively, as a vision, the gift she inherited from her mother.  

Banya had heard of the power of Sedona as a spiritual and healing center, and felt drawn to find out more about this remarkable community. In her search she found a mentor and a teacher whose guidance led her to the fulfillment of a dream; as if the missing piece of the puzzle of life had fallen into place. She opened the BR Clinic, a custom built School of Healing, in uptown Sedona.

The heart of the BR Clinic is Banya‘s healing and acupuncture work. Banya can intuitively access the very roots of a problem, beyond the immediate symptoms. Her healing powers take her directly to peoples’ cellular memories, reading where they need to heal the past in order to have a balanced, happy and healthy future.

Another facet of the Clinic is Position Therapy, a modality focusing on creating and maintaining wellness through the connection of a person’s brain and body, mind and spirit.  Here students learn how the brain is an essential part of health and wellness, not only for emotional balance but also for its capacity to psychologically maintain and heal the body. Studies include neuroscience, Brain Wave Vibration, Oriental Healing and Brain Education System Training.  Incorporating these very different studies through Position Therapy  makes Banya's healing school with it’s cutting edge curriculum stand out from all other holistic healing educational centers.

Today Banya has a successful acupuncture and Oriental Healing Center. She is a 4th level black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a teacher of Tai Chi Chuan and Dahn Yoga. She leads workshops in Spiritual Acupuncture around the country, teaches symptom based exercises and energy healing, and runs the Institute of Brain Education.
